23 Apr 2007 - Monday Club Granadella

This was the first time we did this walk, and we had no idea where Combre del Sol was. So it was agreed that we would all meet in the car park of the tourist information centre in Benitachell. From there we drove to the riding school in convoy to start the walk. I tried to record the walk, but it was too complicated. First down a ravine into broken ground and on to a tarmac road, which we followed for a mile or so. Then down to a barranco, which we followed for a long time, finally onto a busy road to arrive at Granadella beach.

We spent half an hour here, then off again. This time up a steep and winding road which seemed to go on for a long time. At the top a lovely viewpoint overlooking the beach. Then along a not very good coastal path to a ruined fort where we had lunch. Uphill again, once more on a difficult to find path. At the top we followed a ridge to a viewpoint. Then a nice level walk back to the cars.

Lovely walk, and there was a nice bar for a very cold, and very welcome, shandy.
